Budget Categories

MCC’s Budget Categories are defined in our shared Chart of Accounts. These category definitions are summarized below, but please see the full chart of accounts for further definitions and information.

 

[1000] Peacebuilding

Activities with the primary objectives of preventing, mitigating and transforming violence and conflict between groups and individuals as well as addressing systems and structures that perpetuate conflict and violence.

 

[1200] Peace building and Conflict Transformation – Conflict Prevention - inactive

 

[1300] Restorative Justice

Activities with the objective of transforming harm, creating safe spaces for dialogue and healing, and assisting victims and offenders in transforming relationships in response to such situations. Used by Canada and the US only starting FYE22.

 

[2000] Humanitarian Assistance

Activities with the primary objective of improving access to immediate basic needs and promoting recovery in emergency and disaster contexts [non food related].

 

[2200] Humanitarian Assistance – Food Assistance

Includes the provision of food, vouchers and cash in humanitarian emergencies including in response to sudden- and slow-onset disasters as well as complex emergencies. Food assistance in chronic/seasonal situations should be classified under Food Security and Sustainable Livelihoods

 

[3000] Education

Activities with the primary objective of improving access to quality education in a variety of formal, school-based contexts, including early childhood, primary, secondary, post-secondary, and vocational-technical education.

 

[4000] Food Security and Livelihoods

Activities with the primary objective of improving the incomes and food consumption of households as well as reducing vulnerability to food insecurity and poverty.

 

[4200] Food Security and Sustainable Livelihoods – HIV/AIDS - inactive

 

[4300] Food Security and Livelihoods – Water (irrigation)

Activities specifically related to improve access to water for irrigation.

 

[5000] Health

Activities with the primary objective of improving the physical well-being and health of communities.

 

[5200] Health – HIV/AIDS - inactive

 

[5300] Health – Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH)

Activities with the primary objective of improving access to potable water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).

 

[6000] Migration and Resettlement

Activities with the primary objective of protecting the rights and supporting displaced, immigrant and refugee families and communities. Used by Canada and the US only starting FYE22.
